I'm asking this because I'm thinking of buying a leftoner 04 but if it suffers the same problem as the 03 I might spend the extra money and get a 05

The '04 is only slightly better than the '03, biggest changes are the TPS carb and the chrome-lettered graphics. See if you can get a chance to hop on an '05 before deciding, they'll be plenty of '04s (and '03s) still around if you decide to go that route. Good luck.

Actually, the 04's have pretty much an identical powerband as the 03'...However, the 03' has more peak horsepower...About 1 full hp...You may not feel it riding them back to back but it is there...The CR has a screaming top end...Most mags like lazy low end power...The Honda pulls hard from mid to top...The other bikes pull hard from low to upper mid....The Honda favors high speed tracks while the YZ, KX, and RM favor tight tracks...Actually, the 03' Honda is the 2nd most powerful bike than all the other 03's(ktm is the first) and even more or just as powerful as most 04's...

If you're a fast rider or ride fast tracks, you'll really like the CR...If you're slow or ride very tight tracks you'll do better on a bike with lots of low end.

Motorwise, the 03' are a little stronger on top...The main difference are the handlebars, clutch lever, and the suspension is a little different...
