Motorcycle Daily has a nice first ride article on the new street legal electric start, EFI Yamaha 250s.

Oh man! That looks nice.

I was really hoping it was a First Ride Report by RICH!

I didn't read the details. I did notice a 4 valve head...one cam or two?

As far as I know it's a DOHC 4 valve like their new street bike engines.

So....my first question is, how does this engine's performance compare with that of the engine in the current YZF/WRF?

This engine got 11.8 compression compared to 13.5 of the 2008 yz250f. So my guess is a little tamed down.

Saw one in the dealership today(just read about it last night). Other than the locking gas cap and huge exhaust and lights, looks and feels just like the WR250F. It's got me thinking of unloading my road bikes.

If it can truly cruise at 80 mph with some power in reserve, it must be making decent power. Assuming the speedo is accurate, that's a pretty high speed for a 250 single with a dirt bike front fender.

howzit handle on the jumps/track/sand??

i have to (been wanting to) get a bike for several years, now i cant afford to keep my big mopar truck and a bike, so i have to have 2 for 1 deal.
i need it to be suspension tweakable enought to hit some big jumps and whoops on the weekends,
mostly it will be for back and forth to work with a grin and a jump when i see one
any responsese??

i totally love the KTM except in general the budget for maintenaince is a bit more.
but how much more>?
the bike KTM is say $1500 $2000 more new, but over time what other long term maintenance? i dont need hi performance at this point in my life budget, family :ride:
