Hey guys,
Got a second hand 14 yz450f the other day. Looks pretty tidy and runs pretty well... i did notice when i stalled it while bush riding at low speed. I went to kick it over and after a few tries it backfired.. also kicked back at me once or twice...got it started after a couple of more kicks so not the end of the world.. but im not overly mechanical minded, and would like to know what i should be looking at first?

cheers

Big single four-strokes are always a bit difficult to restart after a stall. In the carb days they had what was called a hot start button that leaked a bit of cool air into the intake to help it start in those situations. Check the owners manual to see if they built something similar into the EFI system on your bike. Chances are very good that Yamaha made some provision for easier hot starts.
