Beta got its start in off-road motorcycle manufacturing out of a small factory in Florence, Italy, the brainchild of one Signori Bianchi. (Interestingly, the Beta name is derived from the initials of the two men who ran the company early on: Enzo Bianchi and Arrigo Tosi—as is customary in many cultures, the last/family name is listed first so instead of “Ebat,” as you might expect in the US, the company name became Beta.)When motocross and other off-road competitions exploded in the 1960s and ‘70s, Beta took notice and began producing MX and enduro machines which were primarily for Eur ...
