Anybody know how Michael Byrne came out after crashing at the Indy supercross. That crash was one of the worst I've seen. Looked like he broke his back. He was doing well right up until that triple...

I was sitting right there in the front row. It was the worse crash I ever saw. The TV coverage of the crash didn't do it justice the camera angle was bad. I couldn't enjoy the rest of the 125 main after seeing that. I don't know what his condition is but I'll be surprised if we see him again this SX season. Hopefully it looked worse than it was.

I heard that Byrne may have gotten away with just a concussion, nothing broken. I didn't see the wreck, sounds terrible though. I'll try to find out some more.

I just posted this in the other thread on Bryne before I saw this one:

It looked like one of the worst crashes I have ever seen. He kinda ragdolled over the bars and his bike did about 4 cartwheels. He was down on the track for about 10 laps or so. I asked in the pits after the races... and Bryne went to the hospital and they weren't sure the status at the time. Really a bummer because Bryne was in the 125 East title contention. Shoot - he was top ten in 250 points going into Indy's race. Well whatever happened - I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back out there soon!

I was watching that on TV. He looked like he was throwing up or something and then he rolled forward kinking his neck and then laid down. Man, I still feel queezy just thinking about it. Hope he is OK.........

Worse than Pichon's get-off back in '95(?) when he leaped off the bike and hit the other one on the ground? :ugg:

According to Supercross.com he will miss the next two races. They said he had several minor injuries. This was coming from his team manager. Glad to hear he's OK

Hummm... looks like I'll go with the second prognosis :)
Could have been a lot worse. Good luck to him.

Thanks for the update - SirReel! Glad things aren't as serious as they looked to be! I saw that he should be racing again by Daytona (March 9th) seems kinda soon.

This really sucks for Burner. He had put in some really great rides out west on the 250 and I think would have been in contention to win the 125 East crown. Hopefully he can make it back soon. I'm really curious as to what kind of speed he has outdoors.

He'll be right...he's an Aussie

I'm sure it won't phase Byrner. He's an Aussie; we don't let a few injuries stop us!

Re: IDkTm - how he does outdoor.
I've seen him race several times at home. He was the 2000 Thumper Nationals champion. Won it on an XR650.

He's a great rider and I expect if he has better luck he will prove himself. 2001 was not his year with the collapse of Emigs' team. Now 2002 he's already injured himself bigtime. Hopefully he'll have better luck next year.

Watch out for Chad Reed, he will be the man to beat in the 125's and the outdoors.
