Right now I'd be alittle more inclinded to go with the 400 just cause the ama has limited the class to 450cc's. This rule will go into effect in 2003 so the 520 won't be legal in the 250 class anymore. Most tracks typically go by ama's displacement rules. Just something to keep in mind.
I would go with a yz426f because like mxp1mp said the 520 won't be legal in 2003 and according to dirt bike magazine the 426 is a the best big four stroke at supercross the 520 did beat it in motocross but you would only be able to race it for one more yea but thats just my 2 sents worth
You're not doing yourself any favours if you don't ever get to try the 520. It goes like stink. I don't see the point in getting a 400 since the 520 is just as light and has more power (very manageable).
I love my -02 520 SX, it's the best bike for me that I have ever ridden. I'm not so sure I would want to take it on an SX track, though. If I did take any thumper SX'ing, it would be the CRF unless I had some serious money for titanium.
