I'm thinking about getting a set of the Factory SXS 48mm WP forks when they become available in November.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in the forks off my 2001 380SX. They have about 6 hours of riding on them currently.

Servus cp380sx,

I have a set of those SXS forks disassembled in my garage and they are not that different from your 43mm forks. The cartridge is identical to the 43mm units, just tighter tolerances and a plated piston rod. The valving is 'burly', but nothing which couldn't be duplicated on your forks. I don't want to talk you out of those forks, but a revalve would surely make your stock units the better choice!

The reason I bought them was, that I got a great price and could switch my setup from the 43mm forks right over. I started with running the cartridge from the 48s with my setup in the 43s to make the transition as smooth as possible - no surprises. Next I'll switch anything to the larger tubes.

Listen to Drehwurm........I had White Brothers install the 2002 SXS pieces into my 2001 43mm 400 RFS forks with their valving........a major improvement, very smooth............and a lot less expensive!

The reason I want the 48's is the large tubes. I ride MX and the lack of rigidity of the 43's is sometimes an issue.

Excellent KXVET. My dealer says the SXS forks should be available in 5-6 weeks. I'll get in touch with you as that time nears.

There is some info about the 2002 SXS stuff over on the suspension forum. Yes, it is different from my 2001 SXS fork and yes you do also need a NEW WHEEL (thicker axle diameter)!
