The day starts early and bright, Though to some it is the middle of the night. It is time to go for a ride, As the van leaves with INCA and me inside. The trip around the lake is old hat, Done so many times like this and that. In Fruitport I meet Bob. This On Any Monday Trailrider is off the job. Lt. Randy has no wheels. Gen. Larry is doing boat deals. For others, the day would be hot, Ride the trails – “rather not”. Woodsy ran away, To Californi-aye. So we rode without him, In our own loony bin. We decide to ride a mix, So the temperature is not a nix. To 7 Mile staging we trailer, And from there we’ll nail ‘er. We cross at Lincoln Bridge, Where the Pine River is like a fridge. The ‘Woodsy’s Beloved Boon Trail’ sign we see, Looking right at you on a tree. It was on this trail when first we met, A time and place we will not forget. The memories are clear, For this location is now dear. I turn left instead of right, At times I’m not very bright. The GLS took a hike, And is not now on the bike. We eventually wend out way, To end up near Caberfae. The Coyote Crossing is closed on Monday, Now Bob heads us west another way. A two track here, a dead end there, We simply get nowhere. At M-37 and M-55, It’s snack time to stay alive. To gas up at Boon sounds fair, And a snowmobile trail will get us there. Even though Woodsy is not with us, We get lost without a fuss. The day is slowly fading, Time to head south to staging. A stretch of the MCCCT, then some on a two track, We slowly, surely make out way back. After the Pine River, it’s Lincoln Hills, The other side this time and no thrills. Soon the ORV Route looks inviting, And that becomes our thing. It’s back at the truck, safe and sound, Two happy, tired riders with memories abound. In our hearts is a Special Place, Full of friendship and grace. Young Ted
