I have an 81YZ465 4V4 that I bought from a nieghbor and I intend on getting it running for a compression test before I tear it down and restore it. The carb was DIRTY but luckily the stabil kept the sappy gas from turning to varnish. Bought a new intake manifold and have dipped the carb. Float needle and jets look good so I'm going to set the float at 1.1", put a new air filter in, new case oil, remove the muffer and give it a whack at 40:1 with a new B8ES plug. It has a 350main, 40pilot, and the needle is set at top clip. I'm in Colorado at about 10K elevation. Plan on running it for a while before shutting it down and doing a compression check. Hopefully I'll have good crank seals and be abble to warm up the rings. What range should I be looking for on the compression?
