Hi guys looking for some feedback. Bought a 1986 RM125 to tool around on while I follow my son and also ordered the Clymer manual for it. Clymer recommends 20:1 mix for this bike when most of my buddies are running 32 or 36:1 is the 20:1 right for this bike and did older bikes run a richer premix?

at sea level i always ran 32:1, but jetting does come into play. if your not loading up at 20:1 I’d go with it, i believe more oil is better if it runs right.
im sure you will get different opinions on this which may not necessarily be wrong

I don't beleive you'll find any extra benefits from running more oil (20:1). My cousin runs 32:1 in his '84 RM125 with no problems. Also if your gonna be doing low speed riding then I suggest going to a NGK BR8 heat range plug and using a good clean burning oil such as Maxima SuperM.

I use a NGK BR8 plug. I ride hard at the speeds of 20 50 mph.
Fuel mix is 32:1. I have been using quaker state 2 cycle oil I buy at
the auto parts store for $1 a quart. Could this cause my plug to constantly foul ? How do I know if the carb lean rich setting is correct ?
Is it true if its too lean I can damage the engine ?
I think conterclockwise is richer. But how can I tell if its set right ?
