Have an 1988 XR100, it has spark, has compression, & is getting gas. Have taken it for a few trail rides, but after shutting it down, it refuses to fire back up. This is with a warm engine. When running, it has a very fast idle, & has difficulty maintaining an idle. Have taken carb apart & cleaned it, replaced plug, & cleaned air filter. Also replaced fuel in tank.
Now engine refuses to start at all...??? Not even a "pop"!
Have also checked out kill switch & wiring.

just repaired a moped with same problem. smoking at all? i had to decarberize the piston. i recemend cleaning your carb based on what patman posted very helpful. your aircleaner may be filthy too. what color is the spark plug after you ran it? it will help alot to diagnose the problem.
