I went riding yesterday, and the idle speed wouldn't settle down. Normally it idles fast until warmed up, but yesterday ( in cooler weather) it kept going fast. I adjusted it a few times and got it to slow down and then later it would speed up, then slow down on its own. Could it be the cooler weather, an air leak or what?

You may need a new idle screw or air/fuel screw. You may have a few leaks on the threads.

But I would start by tearing down the carb and cleaning it. Also check the throttle cable adjustment. Then clean the air filter and try it again.

Also what is your jetting setup?

I purchased the bike this summer and haven't torn the carb apart yet
as its been running pretty well. I plan to tear it apart this winter. thanks
for the possible answers.
