What are good aftermarket parts for a kx?? It's older, so there's not as much availability, but what's the best in your opinion? Is DynoPort exhaust any good? I hope I can get the best set up possible, maybe good enough to keep up with a stock YZF?!?! Thanks in advance for any input, and I hope the link works! lol Help me get this ol' kawi from :ride: to :aj:

I had a 94 kx 125 and i can tell you it was the slowest 125 i ever had ! If you think your going to keep up power wise with a yz250f you are dreaming . You will need a LOT of ,motor work to get that bike to even hang with a late model 2 stroke. Handling was what it did best.

eric gorr big bore kit is first off. I'd get the bottom end porting (instead of the high or all around) as that will help you most on the track.

get his opinion on a pipe - as he will know what will work with his porting best.

the $$ it will cost will be well worth it - compared to trying a pipe (you guessing on brand) and reeds etc... plus a older kx and new engine + big bore is much much cheaper than a new bike.

you can't replace displacement :)

if you get good on the big bore, then you may have a shot at the YZF. remember it is more rider than it is the bike.

We've got a 93 KX 125 and it flies!
Our mods that i'd recommend are a pro circuit pipe (actually from a later KX 1997 I think), Carbon fiber reeds and lots of jets to nail the jetting down right.
This bike manages to stay not too far back from my 01 CR250. The hard part is getting it to look pretty!

Sorry It's been so long!
Okay, If I didn't mention, the guy I bought the bike from said there is a big-bore kit of some kind on it that uses 134cc Wiseco pistons. Maybe I mis-heard him or he mispoke and meant 144cc? Is it posible to have a 134cc piston? Is there a kit for that? Whoever put the kit on (I think the owner before the guy I got it from) Could've used a similar kit to Eric Gorr's. I might contact him to see what he recomend's for pipe's since the kit is most likely Similar to his...
Milhaus- Yes, it is VERY hard to get an older KX to look pretty! this guy Has an awesome 96! I'll post some of my pics from yesterday soon.

Prices go up 30% at the turn of the year, so you better get it sent in! :yikes: :yikes:

Inflation sucks...

Darn! too bad I only have $55 right now! That really stinks. Plus I don't have a job right now (I am only 14 1/2). This just popped up in my mind, how well does the iCat work? What about the 'PowerNow & PowerNow Plus' work? Besides porting etc I thought these seemed like fairly simple mods that are somewhat cheap. The only question I had was effectiveness. Thank you all for the help! I know, the most vital part of being fast is practice but I want to 'make that 5% count!' I get to ride tommorow! (If it's not raining) Merry Christmas!

The I-Cat and Power Now/Power Now plus cost as much as porting. Besides, if the KX is almost as fast as an '01 CR250, you don't need to do a thing to it.

His page is super confusing! So is it $85 or $450?? That's a big difference! lol For the $85 kit does he do it for you or is it a DIY type thing? I am lost. Also, which is the most effective- icat, powernow, or powernowplus??? I don't really want to spend $450 but $85 once, then again a year latter isn't so bad. thanks again

The replacement piston kit is $85 - for after you wear the piston out. The overbore, porting and polishing with an installed piston kit is $450.
