On my 98 RMX (moron previous owner threw the stock light away) I put on one of those 1 million candle power handheld 12v spotlights I got a walmart for $10. You have to space the bulb back about .080" or so to get the beam wider, but it was brighter than other stock bike lights. To mount it, I cut the handle off, cut a bit of the back of the light body to clear the steering head, and bolted it in upside down in the stock numberplate (see pic). You also need a screen over the glass lens.
Also note my radiator fan (actually a high-po computer fan) but that is a story for another thread.

What is the draw on that spotlight? Are you concerned about frying any electrical parts? Looks like one that was for sale in Tucson, Az (similar light thing) but it did not have pipe protection like your's.
