My 03 kx250 got to where it didn't want to idle and when I'd crank it up it would rev really high and sputter back down till it finally would die. I cleaned the carb (concentrating on pilot jet) and check the seating of your float valve cause mine had a slight bend in the pin that holds it in place keeping it from seating properly.
