A 125 or 250?

I currently own a KDX220 and I'd like to buy an MX bike. I want to be able to ride in the woods and to race the new MXer. I was going to buy the 125 for racing and use the KDX as a playbike/ woods bike, but I the considered buying a 250 motocrosser and selling the KDX. So my questions are:
Is a 250 MX bike as good in the woods (as far as low end grunt and handling are concerned) as the KDX?
and
When getting into racing, which bike (125 or 250) is it better to start out with?

125

when racing, the 125 wil be better to start off w/ cuz its not as competitive as the 250 races, and it has less power. Plus, if u have to sell ur playbike and still wanna ride woods, then the 250 is out, cuz ull have to sell ur playbike. I would get the 125 even if u didnt have to sell ur playbike for the 250, but since u do, then definatly get the 125.

Oh yeah, also...

Oh yeah, also the 125 teaches you to use the clutch well, so if u move up to the 250 the you will have more than enough clutch skills
