I have some money and I want to get something for CR125 and I thought it would good to get some protection for the cases by getting a skidplate. I don't need the most impressive thing in the world, just something that looks decent, does the job, has a hole to access the tranny oil plug and won't break the bank. I don't want to spend too much, around $50 if I can. I'm in the process of checking out my usual sources after this, Dennis Kirk, Motosport Outlet, Rocky Mountain but if you guys can suggest one, I'd appreciate it.

Everyone makes them, I have never heard of one that didnt do its job, so... my recommendation is to shop around and see where you find the best price. I have had many different plates on many different bikes and never had to deal with them once mounted, it all came down to what the dealer had in stock that particular day.

If you're going to get one, go ahead and get one with the water pump and ignition guards, not just the "glideplate" version that only protects the cases. I've got a Devol on my CR and its pretty easy to take off/put on.

Once you go for your first ride with it you will soon notice the sound of objects being hit by it via the front tire tossing them up. First thought "man, those rocks were smacking my cases before the plate was on there." Just a little extra piece of mind.

I saw the Devol glideplate and skidplate and for only $50 versus $70, I think I'm going to get the glideplate. I just want something and the glideplate seems to be fine for what I need, just to make sure I don't damage the cases. I was looking under there today when I was cleaning it, tons of scratches and nicks, so I think the plate is a good investment.

Yeah, for $50 it's a good investment I'd say. Not only will it protect against rocks and sticks, but it will absorb a lot more force compared to just stress on the two frame rails if I case one.
