Air box cover

Just picked up my 03 CA model KDX 200. I was oiling the filter element and noticed a wire running to some kind of sending unit on top of the air box lid. What is that sensor for? I was going to remove the cover, but do I just disconnect the wire to the sensor?

I'm not familiar with a '03. But on my '92 the regulator is mounted on the airbox lid. I drilled a small hole in the airbox and mounted the reg. with a bolt and nut. I have heard others say there is a unused bolt hole on the frame near there where they mounted theres. :cool:
