Ty Davis won the second round of the AMA/FMF National Enduro Series in Coalinga, California, yesterday. Davis, on the Montclair Yamaha/Zip-Ty Racing-backed YZ250, finished ahead of Randy Hawkins, on the AM Pro Yamaha YZ250F. Third place went to opening-round winner David Lykke (KTM), while Patrick Garrahan (KTM) and Throttlehead.com/Team Green’s Steve Hatch (Kaw) rounded out the top five overall.

After two rounds Lykke still sits on top of the leaderboard, followed by Hawkins and Hatch.

I think the last line of the article from Cycle News is incorrect. According to my calculations, Davis is second with 45 points. Here is the top 4:
Lykke - 51 points
Davis - 45
Hawkins - 43
Hatch - 37

It should be an interesting year without M. Lafferty in the mix.

Lafferty not in the mix? He passed me on the second loop like I was standing still. Unless he crashed and burned later in the race, he seems fine to me.

great race, perfect conditions. almost made the race too easy...especially for a national, but really fun day.

and jho, I don't think that was MIKE, I think it was Helen, his older sister that decided to try enduro's for the first time.

sorry to hear she passed you so easily, maybe you should try riding with air in your rear tire ;-)

WSMC, at least I finished. I changed the tube at break and only lost 40 points :moon: - thank God for all those resets. I seem to remember a certain rider who quit at gas last year just because he ran out of gas and was too tired from pushing his 400 lb KTM 300 a few miles :whiner:

push your bike two miles and you'll be tired too....and a bit late.

though, since your bike is so tiny (girls bike?), you could probably just carry it.

I was parked next to Hawkins and his mechanic started a YZ250 2-stroke which Randy jumped on and rode to the start line. That was the last I saw of him.

That is what I thought. I know he rode the WR250F a while back, but didn't think he would do it again.

A friend of mine rode it who is one of the top rider's in D 37 and he said it was a real hard race, how does this one compare to your regular D 36 Enduro's. They sound like fun and I would like to come up and do one. Thanks, Brett

If you rode all three loops, it's one of the hardest of the year. If you rode two loops, it was about par for the course (though the speed averages were fairly high). The Wild Boar, which is the second of the year and also at Clear Creek, can also be tough if they run three loops. Not sure if they'll do that this year. If you're a desert rat, our type of riding can be tough. When I first starting going south for desert races, I thought I was going to die. If you want to try a fun D36 enduro, I recommend one of the more wooded races like the Fools Gold in Georgetown.

I really like the D-37 races at Gorman and Big bear but they never are very hard.
The National Dez races can get tough, some of the hills can be real bad if you have to push you can burn up alot of energy. Thanks for the info

The Salinas Ramblers, the club that put on the QS, had a power failure, and lost their scoring computers. As of Monday they were working to get them up. I expect we'll get results today or tomorrow. As soon as we get and review them we'll post the results on the D36 website.

thanks!...but I got 2nd...their lines are off.

Didn't realize you had to ride the third loop for B overall, thought it was just OVERALL. Most people didn't realize it either I think, 10th in B vet got 8th B overall.

..but it worked out, too many advancement points and I get moved to A halfway through the season, and I'd like to finish the year in B.

but a good race with no major problems (save both blown fork seals), great conditions and great course.

...and congrats Bigbird, I have much respect for you guys riding the big 4 strokes on those courses.....I wouldn't want to do it. Mark on my minute was riding a wr450 and I saw him go down hard at least once, and get it sideways a couple times. Though, somehow the guy got FASTER right at the end of the race!


..and the Boar is coming up!!!!

I've heard that the Boar is the 2nd hardest enduro in D36 ... can anyone that has done the D36 series confirm? Looks like last years Boar was around 75 ground miles, yikes :ohmy:

Enduro's have to be at least 70 ground miles I believe. Imop, the Boar is one of the easier of the year, but I like Clear Creek ;-)
