The 3rd loop at the Quicksilver was a serious butt kicker and worth every mile! They saved all the "real" rocky trails and steep hills for the end. It felt like the first two loops were just the warm up. This event was very well run, timed and laid out. A big thanks to the Salinas Ramblers for a job well done. I'll definitely make the long drive south to ride it again.

Thanks for the congrats. The QS this year was easier (unless you did the third loop) than the last couple of years primarily due to the lack of rain. Had it rained, we probably would be talking about how many checks we got to before houring out instead of how we finished.

The Boar has been one of the more difficult enduros in D36, exclusive of the National, in past years. Last year the event was less difficult. Part of that may be due to what trails the club can legally use, I'm not sure. I am sure, however, knowing the Timekeepers, that enough talk of an easy enduro will "stir the sleeping giant", and you may regret judging the Boar an easy enduro. :ugg: The course for this year is already set, so what happens, happens. Next year...

LOL... ya, I talked with Terry about it at the QS. Said he was having problems with the BLM on some new trails he cut for the Boar....sounds like the course still might not QUITE set.

but I don't much care about next year, I'll be in a much tougher class so it won't matter much ;-)

I decided that I was too out of practice and shape this year to do the Quick Silver, but I was going to work the course. Unfortunately I had to work in Yuma, so I missed the whole event. :|

With all of the trails being fenced off (illegally) by the BLM were they able to run the tight manzanita sections and some of the steep down hills?

There was no impact to the availability of tight manzanita trails though there seemed to be less of them. At the first reset after the first loop, there was a sign that said, "This is what Clear Creek will look like in X years". It was a road with a fence on both sides protecting the hills.
