I am thinking about racing at crab orchard, Il in a couple of weeks as part of the mid-south series. Has anybody else raced there? What is the course like? How will it be if it is wet? If mid-south puts it on I'm sure it will be good.
Crab Orchard is an awesome course. It is kinda like Lynnville,Indiana with less rocks. It is an old strip mine property with a fair amount of ups and downs and a mostly wide open trail. Usually 9-12 miles in length. I have raced there three times twice it was pretty sloppy, but still easily ridable and once (MS summer race) it was perfect. The Little Egypt MC does a great job on this one and their signup crew keeps things running smoothly in the morning. Great race and a good bunch of folks so don't miss this one.
Let's revive this post and see who all is going to be there. I'll be there in my red Jeep Cherokee (has UT Martin parking stickers on windshield and back glass) with my 01 RM 125 (has Rebel sticker on front # plate). See ya there.
I'll be there but I don't know which bike I'll have. I drowned my DRZ this past weekend and it doesn't seem to be running right. I think I will try riding the Husky again, especially if the course is more wide open. I'll be the one towing a trailer with a Mustang convertable.
I will be there with my brother and another buddy, we will all be on 4 stroke KTM's, me a 520 EXC the other 2, 400's. We'll be in a green F250 crew cab with a 12' enclosed trailer, Hope it doesn't rain to much.
My folks live in Marion and I would love to get in a race while visiting. I was there a few weeks ago and it was kinda lame. You had to stay on the north side of the paved road... Why you ask? DEER SEASON. They had a helmet that was shot with a deer slug setting in the signup office... Definitely kept me on the North side :D
Otherwise, it's a great place to ride and from what I can tell, racing would be great too! Just no MX, well they supposedly have a track but I think it is more like BMX:p
Anyway, when is this taking place? Is there a site with more info?
It shouldn't be too bad as not very much rain is in the forecast. I am looking forward to it (need some fun, just got finished with the finals for this sem.). Mike, you should be easy to find, but KevinB, you will be much harder to find, since everybody except Mike and I will probably be in big Fords, with Katooms.;)
There's enough trail out there for 12-mile loops, so the course doesn't get too torn up (although muddy conditions can be challenging). This site is on the AMA National Hare Scrambles series in 2002, so that's an indication of the quality of the course and the club that puts on the races.
I'll be there with a couple of buds that are racing the series. I don't know what we are driving yet but if you see a WR250f with Devol susp. that would be me. Hey Kevin what happened to the XRBBR? Did Don become a pumpkin head too? See you guys there. Please no more RAIN!!!
I can't believe they haven't called this race. I swore last year I'd wouldn't race it again after a rain. Now it's going to be WHILE it's raining. I must have lost my damn mind! I guess that's what happens when you sign up for points.
