It's amazing to me that no matter what sport, the Aussies do much better than any other nation when speaking in terms of per capita . The country's entire population is equivalent to New York City (maybe), and yet they come here and spank our asses in quite a few things--in this case, just look at Reed. Sure, it's a bit early to tell for sure, but this guy is just cleaning house--as much, if not moreso than Bubba himself. Remember that Bubba hails from a nation of 280 million folks, and he was bred a racer from birth. Sure, over time, we should have and have had 10 times (or more) the number of champions in MX--but you'd probably have to exclude the World Championships.

Must be the vegemite.:silly:

Many of my best friends are aussies, and it all comes down to this... Most have more balls then brains and enough luck and skill to save their asses.

So rock on aussie dudes.:aj:

About 19 million actually. Not to put down Australians (nice climate, I might have to migrate), but I seem to recall a certain nation of 5 million doing pretty good in enduro, WRC and Formula 1.

We don't get that stuff here. ;) I'll go out on a limb (HA!) and predict that Raikkonen will be a future world champion. That kid is fast!

If that's what it takes, then I retire.

Then maybe we should introduce you to Marmite, got a stronger flavour than Vegemite !

Yum, nothing like Marmite on buttered toast for breakfast :)

LOL, first time I tried vegemite, those Aussie *******s (I was in Wagga Wagga, NSW) told me to just scoop it up like peanut butter.:scream: I LITERALLY vomited on the spot.:(

Soon enough, though, I really couldn't get enough of it. If done right, it's great stuff (esp. with a hangover--that's every day for them;) )--Toast WELL done (burnt slightly), THICK layer of real butter, and thin layer of vegemite.

Talk about yellow pee and B vitamins...

What is vegemite?

An acquired taste ... that is what it is :p

Actually a beefy tasting spread, which is a yeast extract, no meat. Marmite is something similar and the Ozzies have another one called Promite which is a bit sweeter, all taste very yummy, trick is not to overdo it as it has a sharp taste. Great on crackers with cheese.

As to the American palate, er well, in a country where salt and vinegar is only being discovered, the likes of Vegemite will take a while (maybe never) be appreciated :( ;)

In Oz, UK, and South Africa, Vegemite/Marmite are breakfast staples. Also very addictive, leave home and come to the US, and you will be driving hundreds of miles to track down this stuff. the Indian stores in Dallas/Austin stock the black gold.

BTW, salt and vinegar ships outsell all the other flavors by 2 to 1 in SA, was very happy to see the Pringles blue pack and Lays become available in the US :)

Australia has won 2 gold medals in the the winter Olympics, thats kinda freaky. To my knowledge skis go with water and power boats.. But heah, I'm not ignorant though, I've seen snow and ice ....in Europe.

The secret to success is not the vegemite its the RED CORDIAL.:aj:

What's Red Cordial, or should I ask?

If it isn't the vegemite, mate, it must be the VB (Victorian Bitter).
Fair Dinkum!:)

You dont have cordial over there???????
Ahhh, it's kind of a liquid concentrate that you mix with water, red's typically rasberry, you get green lime, orange.......orange etc.
The red cordial is supposed to make kids hyperactive, thats why i drink a bucket full before a ride.
Goin a hundred and i aint even started the bike yet.
VB.....Hmmmmm, beer O'clock again.

Battered Sav good to see you aussies did well in your own VB series, but how can u drink that crap!!! Same with carlton stripe, i dont mind Carlton cold but thats only as a last resort, u need to have a Tui or Export Gold, but as for putting butter on then vegimite or marmite, yuk! just put it on straight and dont dilute(sp) the taste, were either of those made in nz?? cos as you'd know the pav was made for the very first time in gods own.

Both of them are!!! how could u think otherwise, well maybe crowe is half cast, we'll take his acting half, and you can have his music half. And as for Stefan, he is a New Zealander trough and trough, make no mistake about it!! he only got a aussie passport cos he thought he would be able to get a better deal over in europe, when u look at the junoir trials former champs you do not see a young stefan merriman from australia do u??

Yes, I suppose in a sporting sense we are in a bit of a"trough" but I promise we will be approaching the crest soon, OK? Perhaps against the Poms at cricket? ;)

There's many a "them's is fightin' words" thrown around here, but I REALLY mean it.:) Anybody who doesn't like VB either has no taste, or they're a KIWI!:p

I've been working for years to get VB imported. Instead, it's just the Foster's crap that even the homeboys don't drink.:silly:
