The annual Aztalan Wisconsin Harescrambles race is coming up on April 28.
I just came from Aztalan, where Rolly and I marked out the loop for the HS race this year. We will have an fabulous balance of technical tough stuff and fast moto stuff. The new stuff will be:
- more times up and down the big ravine in the back
- buried logs in an uphill gully
- we will be including the flattrack (sweet!)
- we are using one of the tunnels under the track
- the sand whoops are back
- if it is a section of woods, we are using it
The lap should be a little bit longer this year. The course will be exceptionally well marked - you definately will have to cut through ribbons to cheat (there will not be a repeat of Hixton).
Rolly has a work crew out there in the next few weeks working on burying logs, cutting trail etc... I am taking the whole day off work on the friday before hand to ribbon off everything.
This course will rock! Although the loop is not long, it is one of the best courses of the year.
It will not favor an MX'er and it will not favor a woods only rider. It is what an HS race should be: tough, fast, slow, technical, logs, uphill, downhill, jumps, berms, sand, trees.
