[QUOTE="Wintermute, post: 955687, member: 62144"] I'm with you there! I've only ever spent about a teeny fraction of my dirtbike time circulating an MX track. But that tiny amount of time was enough to cost me an ACL. I've been on dirtbikes since I was 15 and in that time I have seen and heard of far more accidents on MX tracks than in off road events. Which is not to say that off-road is risk free, I know people who've gotten serious injuries in hare scrambles and enduro events. I know people that have gotten serious injuries trail riding. In my experience the trees are safer by leaps and bounds than a track is. I've been to enduros where the most serious thing that the EMS crew looked at was dirt in a riders eye. Out here an enduro means 60+ ground miles, 5+ hours and somewhere in the vicinity of 150 to 400 riders. Heck the last enduro we rode the only person to get transported by EMS was due to a bee sting, not a crash. IMHO Modern MX tracks a just way too dangerous for those who have to go back to work on Monday. The peak to peak double is super dangerous. Any one who has been around the sport for any length of time can rattle off a list of famous riders who have suffered serious or career ending injuries on jumps ( David Baily, Danny "Magoo" Chandler, Travis Pastrana, etc. ). There are certainly large numbers of weekend warriors who have fallen victim to those same crippling man made jumps. The risk is just too high. I'll stay in the trees until sane natural terrain tracks come back into vogue. Trees Win!
