What kinda bar width are you woods guys using? My Renthals are 32", and I'm starting to think thats a little wide for the tight stuff (judging by the pucker factor while dodging trees).
I'm kinda thinking 30" would be ok.
I run 30" everywhere (since I'm not going to pony up for 2 sets of bars!), since the woods are so tight. My brother hates it, says they're too narrow, but I've gotten used to it.
For the woods, the narrower the better! I've found 28.5" to be about the practical limit. For me, thirty inches feels the most comfortable, so that's what I run, everywhere.
I normally cut mine down to 29.5" just to compensate for the extra width of handguards. I took a statistical sampling of the vegitative growth of my local riding area and the trees are all planted 30.25" apart.
Mine are cut down to 30 or so. It's slightly better than stock (33 or so) in the tight stuff, but I won't be doing it again because I can't put my front brake where I want it - it's too close to the end of the bars and I can't use one finger to brake any more.
do some push-ups.. have someone measure the distance between your hands. you might want to average a few times to get a better measurement. thats the length your bars should be
I'm running Renthal CR low bars ( 32" ) and they do seem pretty long for my liking. I am gonna cut them down to 30 and see how I like the feel but might cut 1/2 inch more on each side.
