Sad news that former GP champ barry sheene has got cancer

i think his quote says it all

"I will do everything within my power to beat this thing," he said on Thursday.

"Although this is a complete pain in the arse, it happens to a lot of people and a lot of people get over it."

i hope so, seen too much family go down with that in last 5 years. good luck and god bless him. a good outlook seems to be half the battle

I don't remember the year, but I was at Daytona when Sheene went down on the high bank at 180 mph. I still can't believe he survived that crash. He's always been a hero, and still gets around well on a road bike.

I watched him win a hotly contested vintage race at Goodwood recently (on Speedvision last year?).

I've actually met the man, it was a highlight in an otherwise ordinary life.
I was very sad when i heard the news, hoping all the best for him.
