Best Indy 500 moment ever. It gets interesting at around the 3:30 mark. It's worth watching till the end to hear Mario Andretti and AJ Foyt's comments. :rotfl:

Ha! I remember that like it was yesterday! That is classic A.J.! Man, I miss A.J. Foyt as a driver. He was always my favorite out there and he was never afraid to say what was on his mind!

BTW, grew up in Indy and, naturally, I'm an Indy 500 fan. Well, before Tony George screwed with it so much. No more infield, no more "month of May", no more "night before the race" party. The good 'ole days. [sigh]

From what I have heard things are better now but I haven't been to the race in so long, and you hear nothing about Indy car racing here in AZ, that I just don't know. I guess I will see when I finally move back to Indy in a few more years.

I used to walk to the race :). Lived in Speedway for a few years. Pokie used to get tickets from work, if they didn't give them to customers, I might get a couple, usually really good ones.

I was there for this one:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/X-IsOuo5be8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/X-IsOuo5be8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

And this one:

That was a bad year.

Wow - all those bring back memories. Indy was something I watched every year from maybe 1969 - 1983.

Big Mario Andretti fan back in the day. My dad always pulled for AJ Foyt or Gordon Johncock.

What a strong field for that '82 race!

Amazing Cogan could make the front row, and then not understand that his right foot is what caused the crash.

BTW, the old Mears racing facility in Bakersfield was sold a few years ago to an RV dealer for use as a repair shop.

Also, grew up in Tucson, so a shout out in memory of Roger McCluskey, who placed 3rd in that tragic '73 race.

You can buy the 1982 race on iTunes for $2 . Worth the price for a really good race with some classic AJ Foyt moments mid-race.

You know I think it's time that car racing takes the lead of Motorcross. They need to have a Mens Class and a Womans Class. Danika Patrick should worry more about her ability to race than her "Go Daddy.Com" crapola..

It's like watching someone club a baby seal when she is in a race!

Yep, we lived on Auburn St about half a block off of Crawfordsville Rd at that time. I was but a little tike then, but I do remember it...

(for those of you who don't know, I lived just two blocks from the first turn.

Then in 1992 I lived right outside of turn 4 in an apartment. It's now a parking lot.

Good race today, with a gnarly crash to finish the race off.

She has a third and a sixth in the last two years at Indy. I'm sure the parade of guys who finished behind her would love to see her racing just women as well. :rotfl:

Maybe some of them should as you put it "worry about their ability to race"
