I'll probably be picking up THIS bike this weekend from a guy near Abilene. Should I get a bill of sale? If so, how do I go about doing this? The guy has the title ready for me if I buy it.

I promise, I'm not post-whoring my way to an upgraded status :debil:

why not just go and get the title transfered? that's the normal way, then you don't need a bill of sale
How is this done?

I *never* get the title transferred. Have the seller give you a bill of sale that is signed, dated, with VIN number, sales price, and payment method/status and then have the seller sign the title too.

If you title it, you get the pleasure of paying for it every year. :pissed: Screw that. The gov't gets enough of my money as it is.

I have done this many times over and have never had issues re-selling bikes. Just so long as you have the title and a valid paper trail supporting the history of the machine you will be in good shape. Not to mentio that you will have a few more bucks in YOUR pocket to use for riding, parts, etc... :)

When I sold my boat I had a lean on the title . I had to send the money to pay it off and wait for them to send the title . We went to the tag place and they gave use a bill of sale . We had to put or names on it vin # on it and what type of boat it was and ect . Didn't cost a thing . Or you can get him to just write it out that he is selling it to you and write all the info down on the bike and both of you sign it. Good luck with the new bike.

all states are different. here in pennsylvania you don't have to pay for it every year if it has a title. to get it transfered you go to a notary just like for a vehicle.

I dunno about the bill of sale thing but... nice choice. You should check out www.ktmtalk.com also. It's very helpful for all things KTM related.
