I'm pretty sure I broke my rib this weekend racing. Yesterday it hurt pretty bad and today it hurts when I breathe, coughf, and upper body movement. Getting out of bed sucked this morning! My friend broke his rib a while back and I'm pretty sure that there is nothing Doctors do about it. So is there anything that I shuould do?

As long as it hasn't punctured your lung or is seriously out of place, I don't believe there is anything they can or will do.

I really surprised the ER nurse one time when I told her that I thought I had also broken rib 5 or 6 on my left side. I was right, it was 5 that time.

The higher ones (like 5 and 6) don't hurt nearly as much as the lower ones that move more when you breathe.

Sorry to hear that Casper.

I broke a bunch of em in October. Just now feeling ok.

They don't even recommend wrapping them now. They say it can cause pneumonia because it doesn't allow you to take a full breath. Like that's gonna happen anyway. :yikes:

Getting in and out of bed is the hardest part.

Good luck.

Whats even worse is that I have the beginnings of a head cold and coughing! And, on top of that, I just got all 4 wisdom teeth taken out a week and a half ago and was just getting over that... Being in constant pain really starts to wear down on you after a while even when it doesn't hurt that bad. :ugg:

Casper.

Do something about that right away. You don't even want to catch a cold. I got one a few weeks into my recovery and it was not fun.
