The ADR HS this weekend will be my first HS and I was wondering which class I should sign up in. I've raced a few enduros but never a HS. 201-OpenC or Beginner? Also, I'll have a 14 year old with me on a TTR125. What is the age group for the Junior class?
If you never trophied the beginner class is just for you. Your son can ride the Junior Class. You will have lots of fun. These guys put on a great Enduro and should have a fun Hare Scrambles.

Dewster, If you have trophied before, you should ride one of the C classes, unless you are fast. :) The boy can ride the junior class, and dont worry, the trails are easy to ride and we will have some sweep riders and some course marshalls to make sure everyone has a good time.
Never trophied so it's the beginner class for me. The kid I'm bringing has never raced and is a little tentative about this one so he may just sit it out and check out how things are done. Darin, do you think it would be ok if he and I rode the course after the race is over?
Dewster, after the event is over and the sweep crews are done, the trails will be open to the public. We will be pulling down all the signage, but it should be very obvious where the event ran. The event trail is legal to ride on any day that the riding area is open. There are no special trails used in the event.
The race will be over at 12:30. The sweep crews should be back at 13:00. We should be handing out trophies by 13:00. The trail is closed for public use by the FS from daylight that morning to 14:00. If we havent had any problems I dont see a problem with riding at 13:00 if the FS doesnt have an issue with it.
I had a great time. The trail was in great shape. I was off Monday so we camped Sunday night and we did a loop Monday morning. We got slammed with rain Sunday night so the trail was a little nasty in some spots. My eight year old is just starting out on a KX60 and he was slipping and sliding all over the trail. He didn't stop until 7.8miles in, which was probably more like 10miles for him as much trail as he was covering. He dumped it about 4 miles in and fell in a huge puddle that almost submerged him. He was soaked. He got up, got back on the bike and took off. He was a real trooper. :aj:
Dewster, it was good to have you guys come out and enjoy the event. I meant to ask you how the kids ride went. We removed all the signs by the time you and the little ones were taking off. I managed to ride 90 miles that day, so I had enough. It was fun, just too bad we didnt have the attendance.
One of my riding buddies and the 14yr old that I mentioned earlier took off after the race and did two loops. They said they picked up signs for the first 2 or 3 miles then rode the rest of the loop. They had a backpack full. What's your trick? They said they were burnt out after the first 2 miles of ripping signs down.
I heard someone say that there may not be an ADR HS next year due to low attendance. Is that true? If so, I can understand... thats a lot of work to do for 40 riders. I would sure hate to see that happen. Is that why ya'll didn't have a HS last year?
I noticed the lack of signs for the first 3 miles. I wasn't sure who had pulled it down. Tell your buddy thanks, I appreciate anyone who helps out. We pulled the rest of it down before we had crossed you and the kids going back out. The trick to taking the signs down is to put them in your backpack flat. If you crumple the markers even a little they take up too much space. I actually use a fanny pack and I can do a typical 5 mile trail with one pack. My buddy Pat had a backpack and between him and I we could have pulled down 15 or so miles.
ADR is looking at different possibilities for next year. It is hard to convince the clubs to put on a race when you are loosing money doing it. We are not giving up the possibility of hosting another event. ADR may even be hosting more events next year. I can talk a little more about that offline.
