04' KX250F, Bike died the other day while warming it. Compression felt kinna off, I pulled the valve cover and found the intake cam sprocket had spun on the cam about 20 degrees. Fortunatly I had an extra cam laying around and swaped it out, but I made a Mod first, and was out on the trails by noon.

I spot welded the cam sprocket to the cam in a couple places 180 degrees from each other. next time you do a valve adjustment and if you have a welder handy, I'd reccomend throwing on a couple spot welds.

the whole reason this happoned was my book says 104 in lbs for the cap torque spec, and the real spec is 87 in lbs. the cam started to seize. I repaired the journal (shade tree style).
