I RECENTLY HAD A BAD WIPE OUT ON MY DRZ400, BOTTOMING OUT AFTER A FAIRLY LARGE JUMP. I MISCALCULATED THE WIDTH OF THE LANDING AND LANDED ON THE EDGE OF THE TRACK WHICH IS JUST A CUTOUT PORTION OF A HILL. I WAS SPIT OFF WITH THE BIKE MAKING A COUPLE OF LOOPS BEFORE IT CAME TO REST.
AS I RODE BACK TO THE PITS I NOTICED THE FRONT WHEEL WAS TRACKING OFF TO THE LEFT. MY FRONT WHEEL SUFFERED NO DAMAGE, SO I ASSUMED THAT LOOSENING THE TOP TRIPLE CLAMP BOLTS AND HEADSET BOLT WOULD ALLOW ME TO MANHANDLE THE FORKS BACK TO A PERFECT PARALLEL POSITION AND I WOULD BE DONE.
NEEDLESS TO SAY IT DID NOT WORK 100%. I TOOK THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE BIKE OFF AND JUST PLACED EVERYTHING TOGETHER AS IT WOULD BE IF THE WHOLE FRONT ASSEMBLY WAS ON THE BIKE. IF YOU ARE LOOKING DOWN FROM ABOVE THE TRIPLE CLAMPS, ONE FORK ANGLES FORWARD MORE THAN THE OTHER ONE. ARE THEY BENT? IS MY LOWER TRIPLE CLAMP BENT?
