What? Is this safe?

With me now being a big cheap-skate in this economy, I fell into "wishful thinking" and bought some off flea-bay... $20. At first glance they looked substantial and gnarly, then I noticed they're casted... and the casting's rough. Would need some filing and re-shaping of return springs if these things are to fit. But casted?... will they explode when I clip a rock or stump? Is it me or should I be worried about putting my weight on these things?

Yup, China.

So I did a little research...

IMS's "Superstock" pegs are cast... from stainless.
These pegs are advertised as: "High Quality Steel."

Castings can be tough if they are made from the right stuff. (hey, I'm a poet :))

Total crap shoot. I have seen the cheap cast pegs be of very good quality and also of very poor. I have a nice reminder of what poor casting techniques can result in on my right hand. For $20 I would suspect you are in sketchyville.
