Tom - There are a couple of things to consider to make an informed choice about this.
1) The thermal conductivity (quantity of heat transmitted through the material) of Ti is fairly low compared to mild steel. It transfers less than half the heat of a mild steel header pipe. Stainless steel is even better only transferring about 1/3 the heat of mild steel. In short there isn't as much heat to trap with Ti as people might lead us to believe.
2) Most of the "HP claims" I've seen associated with thermal barrier coatings for headers are complete BS. The few that have some validity are based on mild steel headers which tend to respond more favorably, and they are generally automotive based where lowering underhood temperatures by any means is the critical factor.
I don't have enough experience with Ti to know what type of reliablity issues might crop up when coating the pipe, but mild steel is know to experience some reliability issues when header pipes are coated.
In short if what you are looking for is some horsepower avoid the coating and buy a well designed megaphone silencer like the Thunder Alley. If HP is a secondary concern and aesthetics are more important then a coating may be the way to go.
