Changing fork oil

I have a '99 KX250 that I'm going to try changing the fork oil in. Any thing to be wary of? I have the manual but was wondering if there any little pitfalls to watch out for.

The little stuff is just the obvious stuff that the manuals don't always mention because its so common sense.
