Cheaking oil level

I have an XT 600 and I am not too sure about the oil level. The oil is in the frame. When the bike is cold the level is far too low. When the bike is warm it is very high. When should i look at the level?

CHECKING oil

Idle the bike for 3 three minutes, then check it, with an old paint brush if you have broken your dipstick. :moon: :laugh:

Sorry Quiksilver, I forgot that your XT has the oil in the frame which is different to my XR. Does anybody else know when to check the oil and how much to put in?
