Not where I am they hold their value really well. Here a 2003 CR250 would go for 4000 easy. Theres 125s for 3000 in the paper all the time. Only a handful of people have 4 strokes here and after a year they dump them and go back to the 2T.
4 strokes suck IMO... simply because they are loud and expensive, i dont care if a 2 stroke is louder on a meter... i know that a four stroke hurts my ears...... sorry..... i dunno in my neck of the woods bikes are holding there value pretty good a buddy of mine sold his 94 yz250 for 2000 bucks recently.. given it was is excellent shape but still it was a 94 eh i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder..
I will eventually have a 4 stroke, there is no doubt in my mind that I will have one someday. I am not saying that 4 strokes suck. In fact I think that they are superior in many ways, and I don't want this thread being a "Look my 2 stroke is better than all fourstrokes!"
I am saying that here in michigan and ohio the demand for 2 strokes has dropped a lot and they are getting cheap. (And I wanted to brag about getting a new Bike! )
I wouldnt ride my YZ 250 2 stroke in BAJA for anything and I wouldnt ride a CRF450X here in the NW for anything. It all depends on where you ride man.
Ill wait until these turkeys get the center of gravity down and get the overall weight down. The only 4 stroke I really enjoyed trail riding was a 525 MXC. The rest might as well have a bag of ready mix on the gas tank.
