Well, there is no better solvent than fuel.

There are lots better solvents than fuel, sort of why they tell ya' not to wash your air filter out in it. What are you needing to clean the inside of the tank for?

The best thing to flush a tank out with is fresh gas.
The only reason you don't use gas to clean filters is it attaks the glue. If you use gas instead of kerosene or whatever to clean a filter it beats everything in "cleanability".

this bike was a 100% ground up rebuild. i know it was never done and the owner left gas get skunky numerous times.
