I remember reading about a washer that people commonly forgot to put back in their forks that resulted in a clicking noise. Well, I went out in the garage to look at my factory springs and there it is. Its a washer with four tabs sticking up so it can be inserted onto the end of the spring. I looked in my manual and don't see that part in the diagram. Is it supposed to go on the bottom of the new springs?

Yep.

'A' washer? Only one?

Anyway, crimp it good on your new springs, insert gently.

One of those 'you never know' sort of things. You put it on the spring, put the spring in. Did it stay on? Pull the spring out to check. It's still there. Put the spring back in. Did it stay on? Pull the spring.........

Yast yoking. As long as you crimp it on pretty good, you should be ok. It's not too hard, though to THINK it's secure, and not too much of a bump later, it will fall off! A nominal amount of caution will suffice.
