Greetings,
Like my user name says, “IMOLDGUY2”. Finally, another decent site on the World Wide Waste. I am finally getting back into the dirt bike scene since 1980 b.c. (before children).

I am completely lost as to what is available in dirt bikes since the bikes I’ve owned were a 1978 IT175, 1980 IT490, 1981 RM250 and the last bike 1983 CR500. I am leaning toward a KDX 200/220. I am 48 years old and am 6'0, 230 lbs. My riding style used to be: Don’t ride over your head and you won’t land on it!

I will do all of my riding on the trails in the UP of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. (No competition for me, too old!)

I need some clues as to where to i.e. clubs, group rides, 2-wheel AND 4-wheel friendly (my wife rides ATV's).

Question: Anybody out there that knows the HP ratings of 2003-2006 KDX 200/220, 2 stroke MX’ers, 250cc/125cc as this is the only reference to the past that I have. (Gee, it even sounds old.)

I can wrench myself so maintenance and upgrades are no problem.

Thank you to all that reply! Love the site!!!

I started riding again after 23 years off last year. first bike I rode was a 03 cr125 which felt more like a 250 from my era. I bought the bike, lacks so bottom end for trail riding. It has enough but could use more.

First, check out this link:

Second, I'll take a shot at it - from what I've learned here. Dynos vary, so these are relative numbers - and subject to correct by those more knowledgable.

125 2 stroke MX = 30-33 HP stock

250f 4 stroke MX = 30-33 HP stock (more torque than the 125)

250 2 stroke MX = low-mid 40s stock

450 4 stroke MX = mid 40s stock (more torque than the 250 2T)

I don't really know about the KDX's, but I'd guess the 200 has high 20s HP.
