cr 500 cylinder head?

does any one know what the difrences are between an 88 and a 98 cr 500 head are. is in any thing other than comp ratio/ squish area

Its the squish clearance and accomodation for the different thickness of head gasket material. If you put an 88 head on a later model bike it will have less squish clearance and more compression. We accomplish the same thing by turning down the base of the cylinder.
