CR85 clutch problems

My son's CR 85 seems to be eating clutches at a surprising rate.
By that I mean that we are adding free play after every moto untill
we run out adjustment - ultimately cooking the clutch. I'm seeing anywhere between 8 to 12 hours maximum on a set of plates.
I've also noticed that his bike sounds different from time to time when exiting corners. That is the clutch may not be always "hooking up" the same each time the lever is released. No issues identified with the cable so I think there is something going on inside. Any ideas????

Check his riding technique. The boy that races with us has been eating clutches at an alarming rate as well to the point we all figured some sort of weird mechanical issue was at fault. So finally after replacing the complete clutch setup this weekend I paid close attention to his technique. he was riding with 2 fingers on the clutch lever as he had been taught but was obviously putting some pressure on the lever inadvertantly and hence literally riding the clutch to death.
