I just bought a 89 KX 250 How do I change the oil in the crank case and what kind of oil should I use. I know I need to find a manual also, any ideas
Thanks
Should be a screw on filler cap on top of the right side transmission/clutch cover. Drain plugs are the only big bolt thingie at the bottom of the transmission. Ask your dealer for suggestions on what oil to use and how much to put in.
And just so you know, the "crankcase" is lubed by the fuel. The transmission is the one that needs a dain and fill. You can't go wrong with moto specific tranny oil. There are less expensive alternatives but not all are approved by the manufacturer. Go to the local bike shop and order a manual, while you're there see if they have any suggestions on oil. When the manual comes in see what it says. Transmissions usually aren't that picky about what oil as long it's fresh.
