I recently had the left main bearing seize on my GG '00 MC250. I've split the cases and have new bearings, seals, and gaskets. Tonight we mounted the crank on a lathe (between two live centers) and it appears to be true (within 1 one-thousands of an inch). The rod does not have any up and down play but there is a 4 one-hundreths of an inch gap between the rod and the thrust washer (is this too much). Also, I'm not sure what EG means in his book then he says "don't be too concerned with radial movement". Does this mean that if I hold the rod straight out from the flyweights and push the top of the rod to the side that some movement is ok? I'd say that it can move about 1mm side to side at the top of the rod.

Thanks in advance from a spode mechanic in training

side to side movement isn't as critical as up and down movement, I don't know what the specs are for side to side but there should be no noticeable up or down movement.
