I'm looking to buy a new bike and I can't decide between the CR 250 and the CRF 450. I am 17 years old, 6'1", 200 lbs. I race MX, hare scrambles, and trail ride. I'd say I have a fairly decent skill level. I finish top 10 in the Novice A class hare scrambles. I can do all the jumps at the local tracks. My first bike was an XL 185 before I went to a 2001 CR 250. I've never rode a modern 4 stroke before. I lean towards the CRF thinking it would be easier to ride in the woods with more torque. I'm also thinking less maintance. How often do CRF's need top ends compared to 250's? Another thing is I do my own topends on the CR, is it alot harder on a 4 stroke? I'm thinking The CRF would make a better hare scrambles bike for me and still be great at motocross. Any opinions? When do the 03's hit dealer floors?

I have my 2003 450f, i have had it for almost 2 weeks. Its great! I still have my 2002 450 and I loved that bike. My 2003 is even better than my 2002. It handles a ton better. there is more room in the riders compartment. The Stock suspension out of the box is the best honda suspension I have ever experienced. It even is up there with my factory connection suspension on my 2002. The motor on the 2003 has a lot more low end and better mid range hit. It pulls and pulls, My 2002 is no slouch, the 2003 just has more. I still have both bikes and I ride them back to back, the 2003 stands taller, and the shock is tons better. It makes it better in the conrners, the front end sticks and I have noticed that I can turn a lot better.
Moral of the story, the 2002 is an awesome bike, but the 2003 is even better.
