1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
I am unsure at this point He is an average size kid for his age.
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
very
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
everything
4) Do you have any riding experience?
yes, 3 years
5) Do you think you will race ?
yes motox and enduros
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
yes
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
no
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
yes
9) How much ($) do you plan to spend on a bike?
$1000
10) Do you live in California?
no
11) Your age?
7
12) anything else that you think would help form an opinion
he is a very aggresive rider for his age.

Okay this is a bike for my nephew. He is currently on a ttr-50 and has outgrown this bike. My uncle has a couple crf100f's that he is going to let go at a very low price.
My question is, can he race this bike for motocross, or should I be looking at something like a sx65 or kx65?

thanks,
Dave

the CRFxxxF's do not have suspension suitable for fast, agressive MX riding.

As he get's faster and better, he's going to run out of bike quick.. Better to get him on a 65.

As long as he's big enough that is..

a CRF100 is not suitable for racing. i remember trying to enter a county fair race with my CRF150F. they flipped. a 65 is the way to go

Definitely go with the 65.

I did enter a county fair race with an XR 100 (slightly older version of the same bike). And people laughed at me. I really wished that I would have had a better bike for racing at the time.

I did get the "biggest air" though (but also the hardest landing)...also got "not too bad for being on a dirtbike" and not a race bike...(those words will be stuck in my head for a long time).

You suggest putting a 7 year old kid on an 85???

Perhaps you should read the post before responding.

yeah, he's way too small for an 85.
I think we will be going the 65 route for now.
