Finally got downtown (pretty much just Dealey Plaza) to get some pics. Coming from 16 years in Chicago and compelling architecture everywhere you point the camera, DFW is a little tougher to shoot. Here are a couple anyway. Please don't stop before page 2 ... there's a little twist called reality.

1st one is the JFK memorial, just off the Plaza. It's basically just a concrete box...

George Bannerman Dealey (1859–1946) was a Dallas, Texas, businessman.

Dealey was the long-time publisher of the The Dallas Morning News. He used his influence to accomplish many goals but will always undoubtedly be remembered primarily for one of them. He crusaded for the redevelopment of a particularly blighted area near downtown Dallas. When the redevelopment, involving a large square located at the intersection of three major avenues, was completed, it was named Dealey Plaza in his honor. This site became known worldwide when, on November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while his motorcade drove through Dealey Plaza.

Kinda like the composition of this one... falls from the left to right. Or.. Maybe that's exactly what's wrong with it :)

Reunion Tower ... Looks like a lit-up golf ball at night. :whoa: Where the person is standing is about the last thing JFK saw... before Reunion obviosuly. A lot of folks think Dealey Plaza was built for JFK, it's been there since the 40's.

"The Window".... that's a web cam sitting there.
Click here to see it; (BORING, more-so at night, lol) 300 yard head shot on a moving target? Come on. :bang: http://www.earthcam.com/jfk/

The window is left open as it was when Oswald set the single-action multi-shot world record.

You won't see this in any Dallas Tourist Brochures. Keep in mind, this is probably the single largest tourist attraction in Dallas... I'm not baggin on Dallas, even the great city of Chicago (the cleanest BIG city in the US has it's share of "less than cool")...
First, the "Reflecting Pools", that line the Plaza (probably 20x100' each (2)):

And the people who "visit" this attraction the most? Before anyone get's their panties in a bunch... this is NOT a negitive thing about the homeless. They were all kids of proud parents who had great hopes for them; they just took a wrong turn somewhere along the way.

dude....those black and whites are award winners. just like there are riders, and then there are motorcyclists, there are those who can take pictures, and those who can see pictures before they're taken. clearly you have the eye - i'm impressed!
