I'm not all that familiar with UK bikes, but I'm guessing there will be a lid or snorkel or some other restrictive device on the airbox. By removing this you'd get better airflow. Your bike will run leaner though so it may be necessary to rejet. Good Luck :)
chippy,
I'm not sure about your CRM 125, But my 92 CRM 250 had a restrictor plate in the exaust port, short range reed stops, small jets, & a muffler that was restrictive like Puritan Sunday picnic.
First thing I did was open up the pipe, & remove the reed stops. Then I jetted it. About a year later I grafted a 90 CR250 spark arrestor/silencer on to it.
When all was said & done it was still a guttless, poorly suspended bike.
It was fun as all get out on sunday morning street rides though.
CRM is a Jap market bike. They get to ride around on 2 stroke trail bikes on the street so have lots of KDX200SR RMX250s, WRs & CRMs.
The sad part is they are heavily detuned & often have a steel petrol tank. Often they are a detuned version of a popular trailbike or a bitsa or something unique to the Jap market & places like Singapore etc.
‘Grey’ Jap imports to other countries are the only way you will see many of these as they won’t be imported through normal channels.
They sell street legal versions of almost all the offroad 2-strokes here in Japan. There are the CRM's, KDX's, RMX's, and WR's, etc., but they all have steel tanks, oil injector systems, double-walled expansion chambers, and big/restricive silencers. Usually, the engines are very different than the MX versions sold in the US and the suspension is very soft.
CRm are the far from the CR models.Motors are different(the 125c.c.has the "nsr"street version configuration),suspensions and brakes are road oriented. To your question It is almost obvious to deduct that this is not a race machine,so....
It is my understanding that the only blatant restriction to this bike is the exhaust system. The engine did not supply enough power with the stock setup, so Honda did not do any restrictions to the ignition system like many of their other street-legal bikes. If you want it to be faster, you will probably need to have porting/head mods done, run a larger carb, larger air filter, open up the airbox more, run high performance reeds/reedcage, and go with a motocross exhaust system.
I have seen very few of these high performance items I mentioned on the market here in Japan, so it is probably not worth it. Most of the parts I have seen are also very expensive ($600 exhaust system?).
There is a supplier in the UK for Tyga products. I dont know if they sell parts for your bike, but they have killer deals on NSR parts.
