I would like to know the difference betweena 85 or 65. I have ridden a 85 and know that their preety quick but I have always wondered about the 65. How does a 65 compare to a 85 and how much faster is a 85 than a 65?

Also which would be the better buy a rm65 with some performance parts for $2300 or a stock ktm 65sx for $2000 and I believe both are year 2003.

depends on his size. the sx is by far the better bike in my opinion. the rm/kx65 is setup suspension wise for a bigger kid. also the sx has more bottom to start with and more power thoughout the powerband including the top. the sx is geared for the kid coming off 50's.
the kazuki65 is a whole lot cheaper to start with but suspension needs serious work to compete with the SX65. don't believe the hype the sx parts are no more expensive than the kazuki65.
There is a writeup comparo in Mini Magiazine this month. They basically all but say the KTM kills the RM.

Now differences between the 65 and 85. well 20cc's 4mm in carb and a whole lot of power. Better suspension. Most 85;s have a power valve. If the rider is a beginner I'd start off with the 65 then move up as time allows. If the rider can handle the 85 you might as well get it over with and get the 85 now.
Just my opinion..
