Differences in 89-94 stock pipes......??

I recently bought a stock pipe from a 1990 KDX 200 from Ebay and received it today. When I put my old stock pipe and the "new" one side by side I noticed a difference. The converging cone on my 89 pipe has a glass beer bottle shape and extends all the way to the mounting tab on the stinger. The converging cone on the pipe from the 90 has a regular taper shape (funnel-like) to it and ends about 2"-3" before the mounting tab on the stinger. Anyone aware of these differences? I will be doing the pipe mod on one of these and am wondering which pipe would be better to do it to. Both have a couple dents, which can be hammered out. Did the 90's make more power than the 89's? It seems like the returning pulse would be stronger with the 90 pipe....idk? Any pipe experts out there that could give some words of advice? Sorry for the long post, but I needed the space to explain my predicament, thanks.

Just a guess! I would think that the newer pipe would be better as Kawasaki is after better performance each year.
